Weekend

This weekend I am at a chamber music seminar in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. Tonight is my first night here.

It was a disaster/nightmare leaving New York (as it seems it always is). I need to figure out a way to make this less stressful.  I think tripling the estimated amount of time to do anything would be a great start.  I feel like I'm constantly running late in this city. Also, is it just me or are bus ticket counter employees allowed, or even expected, to be rude? It's like I never ever meet one who is remotely polite or helpful. Oh well.

Anyway, after a harrowing (!) trip to the bus, I finally befriended the bus driver who was from Argentina and dropped me off a few blocks from the hotel. After you leave New York, it's like you can finally exhale. Ocean Grove is this quaint little town one mile square right on the water. I'm excited to explore tomorrow.

There are a lot of old people in this chamber music weekend thingy, which if fine, but looks like I won't make too many friends my age. My roommate, however, is a student from Mannes School of Music. She reminds me of Betty.

Bloomingdale's is going okay, at least I am working every day (with Law & Order, other PA jobs, and Bloomingdale's, I am very busy!). The job itself is very unglamorous, however. It is more or less an elevated stockroom position- not exactly what I felt they had told me the position was. Oh well. Zeb was making fun of me a bit for talking with him about negotiating the terms of my employment after only one day of working. I guess I'm in that fast-track mindset. Just like New York- not a moment to lose!

Eileen Fisher herself is coming to Bloomingdale's 59th street this Wednesday, if anyone in the area wants to stop by to meet her! That's one thing about working at a major flagship- there are designers in all the time!
