Last weekend, Amaro and I went to go visit our friend Hillevi in her hometown, Portland, Maine. Portland turned out to be a beautiful, quaint seaside town with a faintly European aroma, complete with cobblestone streets, old factories turned into cafes and homestyle restaurants, and a food and art obsessed population of locals. Who knew? Less than two hours away, an old-world getaway. The perfect weekend!
Below are some photos from our sunny trip to Portland. This first part is going to look at just the Farmer's Market and the fisherman pier. If I had the choice, I would love to be able to take a sunny walk on a Saturday morning, go down to the sea, and buy food directly from the source. That would be the best!
This is the park next to the Portland farmer's market.
The Portland fish market, right on the pier. About the freshest you can find! I love stuff like this- fishy, smelly, unpackaged, rustic- and right on the water.
Squid has such an incredible visual texture.
I made friends with a particular Maine lobster...
I like your friend Lobi.
