Photos from past 12 days

I will add text to these photos tomorrow. For now, I am just going to post them and go to sleep!

The first day I drove in Manhattan was also the first day that I drove a minivan. It is surprisingly hard to find gas stations in Manhattan- you really have to make it a destination, not just a place you pass by...

JEM, the fabric store across the street from the Gods Behaving Badly offices. This is definitely a fabric store with some personality.

Over the weekend, there was a street fair on Broadway. After listening to La Bamba for hours on end because the stage was literally under my window, I went downstairs to check it out. This here is the tea and spices lady!

I took myself to MAD (The Museum of Arts and Design) in Columbus Circle. I really liked this museum!  It is quite small but had a very interesting collection.  The photos above and below are of a mini exhibit on the outside of the building. This little hole in the wall is about two inches tall.  The artist made a sort of miniature panorama out of clay and other fibers- look at how real it looks! And how strange to be peering into a tiny hole in the side of a building!

Children's clothes made of nails in MAD. One interesting thing about this museum is that they have artists working in an open studio, kind of like putting the artists on display as an exhibit in and of themselves...

Kimono made of cotton inspired by painting. Read below.

Really beautiful installation of cobalt blue butterflies on a mustard skeleton of an airplane. I've always been interested in sculpture / installation.

Necklace made of different natural materials in the same color family- whether is be a beetle, carbon powder, beetles, or other mineral and pigment powders.

The most beautiful of all...installation of bone flora overgrowing a gold filigree frame.

Also one of my favorites- can you believe this "orchid" is made of bone? Don't you now want to visit the MAD?

Incredible glass causes shapes to hover in thin air (or thin glass. ha.). I think in my future I will be a glassblower / sculptor. That sounds perfect.

More glass and ceramic! Can you believe?

Another ceramic installation...inspired by French pastoral scenes depicted in wealthy homes, yet each one tells a story that slightly mocks what it resembles.

Now this probably took a long time to bead.

It didn't come out very well but this is a collage. Wow!

Hmm, interesting concept- artist as jeweler. I like the idea of jewelry being personal sculpture. I can see where my future as a glassblower/sculptor may be heading.

New York at dusk after rain.

Trying to get on a train at Times Square.

New York food cart. And they had...chestnuts!!! That means it must be fall! What can be more autumnal than roasted chestnuts from a streetcart on a cold sunny day?

What? NYU kids get their own shuttle bus around SoHo? Hmm.

Need Phone Numbers

So today I spent 2 hours in the Verizon store only to leave with a blank contacts list...the story is long and boring. Short message- I need new numbers!  If you could leave numbers in a comment here, text me, or email me, would be great. Thanks so much!

Too Long, Too Quick!

I am sorry I haven't posted in almost two weeks!  Everything has been moving so fast I've barely had the time to catch my breath.

Last Monday and Tuesday, I was still working on Gods Behaving Badly as their costume Production Assistant.  Wednesday, I had nothing to do and no plans, and freaked out a bit. Thursday, I got a call from Bloomingdale's, got 2 calls for temp work on Friday, and got a guest blogging position offer. Friday, I worked as a temp PA on Law and Order SVU (pics coming soon!).  After work on Friday I went to MOMA and dinner with Tracy, and then met up with Kathryn and Elizabeth who drove from Boston.  Saturday and Sunday, Kathryn and Elizabeth and I had a bunch of NYC fun.  Starting Monday, I was in full time training with Bloomingdale's...and I still am.  Every day this week, I am training, and starting next week I am on my normal part time work schedule. Meanwhile, I have also completed and passed my first round interview with Gap Retail Management Program (yay!) and have signed myself up for a chamber music seminar weekend. See?! No time to breathe!

Last Week of Gods Behaving Badly

I can't believe that this is my last full week working on the film.  It has gone by super quickly! On an exciting note, I sort of got promoted to a paid Costume Production Assistant position for the last 4 days of work...Thursday through next Tuesday. This is great because I would have been there working those days anyway.  The only thing this means is that I have to drive the costume van.  Driver's licenses are valuable commodities around here; I'm glad I have one and have good driving experience!  Today was both my first day driving a minivan and also my first day driving in Manhattan.  It was also POURING rain.  However, all in all, it wasn't too bad!

My week has been pretty eventful thus far. On Tuesday, I went to set to help dress all of the background actors in Dionysus' Den ( basically a huge party / club scene).  The blonde lady in the cream sweater is the designer; the brunette lady with the long swishy gray skirt is the assistant designer. Jess and I also got to watch the scene from the sidelines, but these photos are from "extras holding" aka where the extras get dressed and wait.

A wonderful coffee place by my work in SoHo.  I'm usually not a coffee drinker but I will from here!

They use such pretty coffee cups, too.

On Wednesday night Anna came back from school for the Jewish holidays, and it was perfect because it was also the night of the cast party!  Filming officially ended on Tuesday, and now we are in "wrap," short for wrap up, I guess. Did I mention that I got hired as the Costume Production Assistant for the 4 days of wrap?  It's great, because I would have been going to work anyway, for free.

Anyway, the cast party was fun, and even better that Anna could come. It was in the penthouse of some building, and had this great view of the city and neat pink bubble chandeliers...
